Prysmian's aspiration is to build a more equal, inclusive and innovative world, starting with, but not limited to, its employees. To be able to do this, the Group formalized its Social Ambition, which concentrates on the commitment to improve Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DE&I), digital inclusion, the empowerment of communities, health and safety, employee engagement and upskilling. These commitments have been translated into specific Group targets to be achieved by 2030, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals

The Group is also promoting programmes to expand the digital inclusion of all its employees, while eliminating discrimination by role or position.

Prysmian will continue to protect health and safety in the workplace as an absolute priority for all its employees through daily prevention programs. The Group aims to have the injury rate towards 0 by 2030 in its plants and offices. Prysmian's health and safety objectives also apply to external contractors: the Group guarantees the highest safety standards to everyone, even to non-direct employees of the Company.

Prysmian has adopted the Women's Empowerment Principles and promotes gender equality internally. To promote a work environment that guarantees equal opportunities, inclusion and absence of discrimination, the Company supports the principle of pay equity periodically monitoring its Gender Pay Gap which, as a goal of its Social Ambition, has been committed to zero by 2030 with an annual action plan and the allocation of a dedicated budget.

The Group continues to improve work-life balance to open up new career opportunities, especially for women. Other measures include childcare and the return guarantee after parental leave as well as flexible working-time models and part-time work, including for managers.

Prysmian has the ambition to increase the representation of women across the Group and specifically in leadership roles, as stated in the Social Ambition. In order to pursue this objective, the Company pays specific attention to the STEM Functions (most importantly Manufacturing & R&D), which represent the core of the organization. Several actions are in place that target both the internal pipeline of talented women and the acquisition of valuable resources from the external market. The Group is investing in numerous initiatives to train and develop its female employees that are currently covering middle management roles and who have the potential to grow to Executive levels in the near future (leadership trainings, assessment, mentorship and coaching programs). In addition, since 2022, Prysmian has started a workstream to proactively scout talented women externally. Last by not least, among all the Group Strategic Programs the company has launched in the last 10 years, the STEM IT program will able to attract more and more women in the future, reinforcing the pool of middle managers and ensuring a stronger pipeline particularly in these Functions, in line with our Women in STEM Social Ambition target.

To further align Prysmian with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the Group has set out the following 2030 targets to support delivery of its Social Ambition objectives:

  • A 50/50 split between women and men in new hires
  • Commitment to at least 30% senior leadership roles to be held by women
  • Zero Pay Gap - with equality in pay across all roles
  • Commitment to hire more than 500 women in a dedicated science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) recruitment programme
  • At least 30% of executives to be from under-represented nationalities/ethnicities

“Today, all of Prysmian’s industrial processes include ESG KPIs. Sustainability is a business for Prysmian and there is no production process or business unit within the Group that is not committed in ESG terms. The market itself is demanding this: today, no investor or bank may think about investing in companies which do not meet sustainability requirements.
